Ridgeway Singers - The Cheerful Choir
The Ridgeway Singers & Band return to The Exchange, bringing their infectious energy to a celebration of a Dorset Christmas with local songs, carols, toe-tapping tunes and poetry including some contributions from Cornwall and Devon this time.
The group was formed 12 years ago for an Artsreach project and goes from strength to strength. Directed by renowned serpent player Phil Humphries, it specialises in performing the kind of music beloved of Thomas Hardy and described in Under the Greenwood Tree. Singers in four parts are supported by a band of instrumentalists. Long forgotten dance tunes are brought back to life and new settings and compositions are created in the tradition.. Expect a festive and entertaining evening with opportunaties to join in if you wish.
Tickets are available from The Exchange or via www.ridgewaysingersandband.org
