An Audience with John Sergeant

An Audience with John Sergeant

Consistently one of our best selling speakers, John Sergeant, the former Chief Political Correspondent for the BBC and

ITN Political Editor. Many people will remember John as one of Britain's most popular and respected broadcasters and authors. His award-winning career as a political journalist has been as lengthy as it has been successful, and saw him interview big political hitters like Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher, John Major and Tony Blair.

In recent years though, John has returned to his first love of light entertainment and can be seen regularly on programmes like The One Show, Have I Got News For You, QI, Room 101 and the News Quiz, and of course there were those appearances on Strictly…

Indeed Sergeant’s two left feet approach to the arts of the ballroom consistently found him at the bottom of the judges score board but the public loved him and he returned week after week. He finally left the show in Week 10 saying: "The trouble is that there is now a real danger that I might win

the competition. Even for me that would be a joke too far.”

More recently there have been well received documentaries as well, includingJohn Sergeant's Tourist Trail, Tracks of Empire

– about the Indian Railways, and Britain's First Photo Album, about the pioneering photography of Francis Frith.

An Intimate Evening Martin Fry

An Intimate Evening Martin Fry

Martin Fry - A Lexicon of Life

A Look At Life And A Look Of Love

The hits earned their place in pop history. From Poison Arrow to The Look Of Love, from All Of My Heart, and Be Near Me, to When Smokey Sings, ABC were the band that redefined glamour and cool. Led by the charismatic Martin Fry, they enjoyed TransAtlantic success as The Lexicon of Love proved as artful as a Warhol silkscreen, and glossier than Marilyn’s lipstick. ABC’s The Lexicon of Love was a brilliantly distinctive debut album, fizzing with bright ideas, and unapologetically flamboyant. Frontman Martin Fry harked back to a golden era of luxe, as though Cole Porter had been re-imagined among the narrow streets of Sheffield. Little wonder his sleek, opulent, and beautiful debut retains the affection of listeners four decades on. With good reason, it has stood the test of time. And so has Martin Fry, who will bring an evening of stripped-back music and conversation to UK theatres in celebration. His intimate tour follows a sold-out tour of the UK, which included three  sell out nights at London Palladium, and coincides with the publication of his autobiography. That’s the look, that’s the look… The Look of love.

Tony Stockwell

Remarkably compelling, amazingly detailed, and always humorous

The popular star of TV’s Street Psychic, Psychic Private Eyes and Psychic Academy, Tony Stockwell has a long-established credibility as one of the top Intuitive Mediums. Tony demonstrates his belief that those who have passed can communicate with their loved ones with detailed messages frequently including names, dates, and locations and all delivered with emotion, sensitivity, and empathy. The evening may include psychometry, photograph readings and psychic prediction.

Recent legislative guidelines insist that any Evening of Mediumship should be billed ‘for entertainment purposes’. Tony certainly uses his natural wit, showmanship, and Cockney charisma to entertain but more important, Mediumship has the potential to change someone’s life and instil in them a sense of peace, comfort, and purpose.

TOM ROBINSON with Adam Phillips

TOM ROBINSON with Adam Phillips

TOM ROBINSON with Adam Phillips THEN & NOW

50 YEARS OF ADVENTURES IN THE RECORD INDUSTRY

1975-2025

Tom Robinson presents an evening of songs and stories from fifty years wandering the wilder shores of the Record Industry. Classic hits such as War Baby, Up Against The Wall, and 2-4-6-8 Motorway rub shoulders with a Radio 1 ban for being Glad To be Gay, rocking against racism with The Clash, writing songs with Elton John, headlining Glasto with Peter Gabriel, drug smuggling in East Germany, two nervous breakdowns and a year in tabloid hell after falling in love with a woman. Plus fan favourites from his vast back catalogue, spanning Café Society in 1975 to his acclaimed 2015 comeback album Only The Now.

TOM ROBINSON BIOG

Tom Robinson's first record release was in 1975 as one-third of Café Society: an acoustic harmony trio discovered by Ray Davies at The Troubadour folk club in London's Earls Court. The album sold just 500 copies.

After seeing an early Sex Pistols gig at The 100 Club, Tom made a rapid change of direction and formed the Tom Robinson Band with rock guitarist Danny Kustow. TRB were early supporters of Rock Against Racism and soon enjoyed Top 5 success with their debut single for EMI: 2-4-6-8 Motorway. Brief notoriety followed in early 1978 with the LGBT anthem Glad To Be Gay, and a few months later the band's first album Power In The Darkness entered the charts at No.4.

Over the last 50 years Tom's been mentored by Alexis Korner and Martin Carthy, written songs with Elton John and Peter Gabriel, toured with The Police, Red Wedge and The Undertones, and Rocked Against Racism for a crowd of 80,000 - alongside The Clash, Steel Pulse and X-Ray Spex.

He's been banned by Radio One, exiled in East Berlin, and hounded by the tabloids for being in love with a woman. More recently he's given over ten thousand artists their first national airplay on his BBC Introducing shows for 6 Music and served for ten years on the Ivor Novello Awards committee. At age 75 Tom still enjoys a reputation among his punk contemporaries - and in the world of acoustic/roots music - as both a master songsmith and a funny, ferocious live performer.
